Financing Your Investigation
Even in the best of times it can be tough to get your boss to support an investigative project. One way to help is to find your own funding. Today there are dozens of funds, foundations, and NGOs that can help support an investigative project. How do you find them and how do you ensure your independence? Here are three experts on the topic: the founder of nonprofit IndiaSpend, India's first data journalism news service; a US expert who has raised millions of dollars from private foundations; and the woman who built Hong Kong University's Journalism and Media Studies Centre into one of the region's leading journalism programs.
