Khalid Khattak is a staff reporter at The News International and has been in the profession for 12 years now. In 2015, Khalid founded Data Stories (http://www.datastories.pk/)--Pakistan's first independent data journalism initiative with an aim to promote data journalism, data storytelling and data literacy in his country. Khalid's data journalism based investigative story won the first prize (in education category) in the ICFJ Alumni Summit Reporting Contest organised by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) and Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) in Pakistan in 2015. Khalid was also a visiting faculty at the Punjab University's Institute of Communication Studies where he taught Online Journalism for one semester. He is Daniel Pearl Fellow (2013) and as part of the fellowship worked at the DC bureau of the Wall Street Journal for almost five months. He is council member of the Lahore Press Club.
