Great editors are hard to find. Great investigative editors are even more rare. It takes a unique combination of skills to help organize, protect, and motivate investiative reporters, who can be notoriously difficult to manage. And that's just inside the newsroom. Outside await angry officials, companies, lawsuits, and other challenges. Here's advice from some of the best in the business, from the Boston Globe's Pulitzer-winning Spotlight editor Robby Robinson to the gutsy work of Pakistan's Umar Cheema to Philipus Parera at Indonesia's groundbreaking Tempo magazine.
