FOI/RTI Strategies

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Freedom of information laws now exist in more than 100 countries, but their record of success is mixed at best. Even in places like India, where the law has been widely used, RTI (right-to-information) proponents have been attacked and bureaucrats are notoriously stingy about complying. But the laws play a critical role in expanding public access to information, promoting transparency, and allowing an investigative press to do its job. Come hear veteran users of FOI/RTI laws in India and Pakistan, and an expert on the state of open government in Southeast Asia.
