Disaster Reporting: Tools and Techniques

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Covering disasters -- whether natural or human-caused -- takes a special set of skills. Investigative journalists today are using a combination of tech-savvy approaches with time-tested methods of on-the-ground reporting. They are also learning to better deal with the tragedy and trauma around them. Here are four veterans of very different disasters: Japan's Fukushima nuclear meltdown in 2011, the Philippines' super-typhoon Haiyan in 2013, Sri Lanka's 2004 tsunami, and Nepal's 2015 earthquake.
